An ambassador for scientific knowledge, Axel Kahn is one of the most publicised researchers of his time. He is our guest for this new edition of Rendez-vous du Futur.
Axel Kahn, a renowned essayist, scientist and geneticist, is the Director of Research at INSERM and previously headed the Cochin Institute. Since 2007, he has been the President of the University Paris Descartes. His knowledge of genetics regularly leads him to take part in public debates about cloning and doping. Axel Kahn is best known to the general public for his popularisation of science, which he has pursued for many years, and his stances on certain ethical and philosophical questions relating to medicine and biotechnology, in particular cloning or GM crops. This has particularly been due to his work on the Comité Consultatif National D’Éthique (national bioethics advisory committee) between 1992 and 2004. Sometimes controversial but regularly sought after, Axel Kahn is also the author of numerous popular works such as Raisonnable et Humain, published in 2004.

Launched in May 2010 by Le Cube and Triple C, Rendez-vous du Futur is an interactive TV show filmed in front of a live audience and broadcast live over the internet. The show invites people who are recognised in their field (art, science, economics, sociology etc) to discuss their long-term vision for the world. At any time, both before and during the show, the general public and internet users may comment and put questions to the guests.
Presented by Eloi Choplin, Rendez-vous du Futur discussions are led by Nils Aziosmanoff, President of Le Cube, and Salomé Kiner, journalist and editorial manager for nabbu.com, and feature spots by Alexis Botaya, editor in chief at Soon soon soon.
